    The Chiltern is an entry level instrument and so it is not possible to add temperature control or filtration.  However upgrading to a JCF instrument allows not only filtration and temperature control, by using a TC20i; but filtration, temperature control and UV sanitisation by using a TSC3. For more details please contact us.

    We are able to refurbish and repair the majority of older Optimec instruments.  Email us some photographs showing the condition and/or problem together with the serial number and we can provide you with a quotation.  If you would prefer a new instrument or an upgrade, we can put an attractive package together for you.     The original halogen lamp fitment (soon to become unavailable) has now been superseded by a specially designed LED light engine which is now fitted as standard to all new Optimec instruments.  The LED provides a whiter light, sharper images, cooler operating temperature, and lower running costs.  The LED has been designed so it can be retrofitted by the customer to the majority of older instruments.       The Optimec Chiltern is a smaller version of the JCF, retaining the same method of both BCOR and diameter measurement. However, this instrument is designed for the practitioner who wishes to check soft contact lenses to assist in better fitting, and so does not require the larger image sizes afforded by the JCF. The design layout of the optics and the wet cells are simplified to reduce costs and so the Chiltern cannot be used with temperature control instruments.
